Dear Colleagues, It is with deep humility and a strong sense of responsibility that I assume the role of President of the Indian Society of Periodontology. Our society stands on a rich legacy of academic excellence, clinical leadership, and collective professional commitment built over decades by our visionary mentors, office bearers, and members. Today, Periodontology occupies a central position in contemporary dentistry — not only as the cornerstone of periodontal health and regeneration, but also as the biological foundation for implant therapy. Implantology is no longer viewed as an isolated discipline; it is an integral extension of periodontal science, guided by principles of soft-tissue biology, bone physiology, infection control, and long-term maintenance. As custodians of these biological determinants, periodontists play a pivotal role in ensuring responsible, ethical, and biologically driven implant practice. We remain committed to empowering our members, nurturing young professionals, fostering academic excellence, and enhancing public awareness regarding the crucial role of periodontal health in overall well-being. As we continue our mission to advance periodontal therapy, foster collaboration, and improve oral healthcare, ISP remains committed to promoting research, clinical excellence, and public health. Through our scientific events, publications, and educational initiatives, we aim to raise the bar in periodontal care and create a positive impact on both professionals and the public. ISP also values the contributions of postgraduate departments, shaping the next generation of specialists, and working on awareness programs to improve dental hygiene practices across communities.
